Sky Sports are in no rush to choose their new Soccer Saturday panel.

Although Jeff Stelling and Paul Merson are ready to return for the 2020/21 Premier League season, changes at the company saw regulars Matt Le Tissier, Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson moved on last month.

Because their replacements have not yet been decided, Sky are ready to mix up their selection for the first few weeks of the season in order to see who has what it takes for the permanent spots.

Another worry for the broadcaster is the future of stalwart Stelling, who is yet to commit to the entire season following the sacking of his close friends.

The Mail report the news that Sky will be holding the ‘live auditions’ which could feature the likes of former Soccer Saturday guests Danny Gabbidon, Clinton Morrison or Glen Johnson.

Stelling wrote on Twitter in August: “Thanks for all the messages of support – and even for most of those who have a different view as I believe in free speech.

“So far no discussions have taken place, no decisions made.

“Only I know what I am thinking but it is important to listen to all arguments. Thanks again.”
