Chris Smalling's agent reportedly has a private jet on standby to fly Chris Smalling to Italy in a bid to complete a £12.5million deadline day switch to Roma.
Smalling impressed on loan at the Serie A side last term and is yet to feature for the Red Devils this term.
The 30-year-old has cut a frustrated figure around Carrington and looks likely to be frozen out if he does not move on before this evening's deadline.
And, according to the Daily Mail, his agent is pulling out all the stops in a bid to make sure the transfer goes through.
Roma and United are still in discussions over the move and an agreement is yet to be struck.
United have struggled defensively so far this season, conceding 11 goals in their first three Premier League games including six in Sunday's humbling by Spurs at Old Trafford.
But Smalling is unlikely to be recalled by Solskjaer, meaning he has only today to secure first-team football.
And time is against the ex-Fulham centre-half as the Italian window closes at 7pm – four hours before the Premier League deadline.
