Solskjaer insists Man Utd missed duo vs Leicester and hints he’ll now drop stars

Under pressure Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is ready to make changes after a dismal 4-2 defeat to Leicester.

Despite taking the lead early on through Mason Greenwood, United were unable to capitalise and fell behind to goals either side of half-time from Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu.

United thought they had snatched a point when Marcus Rashford struck an equaliser eight minutes from time, but late efforts from Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka saw Leicester take the spoils.

Solskjaer's team selection came into focus after the match, and the Norwegian admitted that things need to change in order for the Red Devils to return to winning ways.

He said: "I pick the team, Harry Maguire showed no reaction and I hold my hand up if that does not work out. If we concede four, I probably made a bad decision.

"Lately we have not been in great form, lost too many points and that is something we have to look at. We might have to change, do we need more legs in there? What do we need?"

Solskjaer also bemoaned the absence of two key players, hinting that they could return against Atalanta in midweek.

"I have got many good players. Fred, Edinson Cavani, you miss them," he added. "I am not making excuses for the team I put out there, they are top footballers and we have not produced."

If Cavani and Fred do return to the starting line-up, Solskjaer will be required to make changes – something he is not ruling out after this latest defeat.

He continued: "Over the international break we have had a good look to see what has gone wrong lately but we need to look at the whole set up and balance of the team and maybe something has to give."

United's defeat to Leicester saw them slip to fifth in the Premier League table, five points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
