Solskjaer may already have next job lined up with Man Utd sack looming

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has his next move planned if he gets sacked by Manchester United, according to reports.

The manager has come under increasing pressure in the past month following a poor run which has seen United drop to seventh in the Premier League and struggle in Europe.

Things hit rock bottom on Sunday as his side were completely outclassed in a shocking 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

And with fans calling on Solskjaer to be sacked, it appears the manager has another big coaching role in his sights if he were to part ways with United.

Former Middlesbrough striker and Norwegian international Jan Aage Fjortoft believes Solskjaer could be tempted into managing the Norway national team once current head coach Stale Solbakken opts to retire.

Fjortoft tweeted: "[Solskjaer] will, as any manager, eventually get the sack.

"Then he will take some time off. After that he will succeed Solbakken (when he says enough is enough) as Norwegian National Coach."

The Norwegian’s claim follows reports that United have drawn up a four-man shortlist to replace Solskjaer, which includes big names like Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane.

Other managers reportedly being considered are Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Ajax’s highly-rated Erik Ten Hag.

United had previously been unwavering in their persistence with Solskjaer as they looked to avoid another sacking after David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho’s anticlimactic tenures.

But it seems the trouncing by Liverpool was the final nail in the coffin as the Old Trafford hierarchy no longer believe Solskjaer is the man to lead them to the next level and deliver silverware.

Still, Solskjaer's potential parting with the Red Devils could provide a new exciting chapter in his career with the opportunity to lead his nation and manage the likes of Erling Haaland on the cards.
