Son Heung-Min scored twice as Jose Mourinho’s Spurs began their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 win over League One side Ipswich Town at White Hart Lane.
The South Korean striker deputised well in the role normally occupied by Harry Kane, who has been forced into self-quarantine after returning from his holiday in the Bahamas.
Ryan Sessegnon gave the Premier League side an early lead after just five minutes with a clever low finish from Dele Alli’s long ball forward.

Alli turned provider for the second goal just minutes later, after he picked up on a slack pass by Ipswich goalkeeper David Cornell and fed Son, who slotted into an empty net.
Spurs’ South Korean striker then added his second of the game after 30 minutes by clipping the ball over Cornell when played in by Juan Foyth.
Son nearly completed a first-half hat-trick but prodded over from a couple of yards out after a clever ball from Gedson Fernandes, before being taken off at the break.

Spurs continued to threaten after the interval but mostly used the second period to give youngsters such as Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine and Dennis Cirken some valuable first-team minutes.
Meanwhile, Ipswich barely threatened the Tottenham goal throughout the 90 minutes in north London.
It was the first opportunity for Mourinho to try out new signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, arrived in a £25million move from Southampton earlier this summer.

The 25-year-old looked comfortable in possession alongside Harry Winks while he was unlucky to score from a corner late in the first-half.

Winger Jack Clarke, who had loan spells at Leeds United and QPR last season, was also given the second-half to show what he could do to force his way into the manager’s plans.

The 19-year-old showed good touches of the ball and showed fine moments of acceleration during his display at White Hart Lane.
Mourinho was without star striker Kane for the friendly due to quarantining rules relating to his family holiday in the Bahamas.
The UK Government put the Bahamas on the country’s quarantine list while Kane was abroad and the Spurs forward must wait until the 14-day period is over before joining his team-mates in their pre-season campaign.

Spurs have two more friendlies against Championship sides Reading and Birmingham City next week ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Mourinho’s men begin their competitive season on the weekend of September 12 when Everton come to north London. Spurs then have to make a European trip five days later for the Europa League second-qualifying round.
Paul Lambert’s Ipswich host Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup first round in a fortnight’s time, before taking on Wigan Athletic in their first League One game of the season a week later.
