The new Premier League season got underway this weekend, and that means Fantasy Football is back up and running.
Every week, fans agonise over which players to swap in and out of their teams. Unless you’re Mail Sport football editor Ian Ladyman.
Speaking on the brand new podcast It’s All Kicking Off, Ladyman revealed he has very little time for the game, leaving co-host Chris Sutton stunned.
When discussing their highlights from the opening weekend, Sutton brought up the positive start he’d made on Fantasy Premier League, but Ladyman was having none of it.
‘My favourite moment from the weekend would be my FPL team got off to a good start,’ Sutton started.

‘Fantasy. We’re not talking about fantasy football!’ Ladyman interjected.
‘Do you not play Fantasy? That’s a big deal. Why are you so anti-Fantasy Football?’ Sutton asked.
‘How old are you? Fantasy Football. It’s brilliant for 12-year-old boys and girls, and for people who never leave the house. Now you’re neither of those. It’s for bedwetters!’ Ladyman replied.
‘You are a brave little caveboy to come up with that,’ Sutton chuckled, referring to his new nickname for Ladyman after he previously suggested substitutes should be banned in the Premier League after the 85th minute to limit time-wasting.
There was no stopping Ladyman, though. ‘Fantasy Football, is your life not big enough? You’ve got 24 children or something! Is your life not big enough?
‘One of my sons actually sorts my team out,’ Sutton confessed. ‘But I mean, come on, get up with the times.’
Ladyman was still not convinced. ‘I’ve seen your Fantasy Football team. It’s kind of the most obvious football team I have ever seen.’
It seems Ladyman will not be rushing to meet the deadline for the next round of Premier League fixtures, with Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United getting the second weekend of action underway on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sutton will be relying on his son picking wisely once more to maintain his bright start to the Fantasy Premier League season.
