Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has identified four signings he needs at Old Trafford, according to reports. The Glazers backed the Dutchman with six fresh reinforcements back in the summer transfer window. And it appears they’ll need to take more action to ensure the glory days return to the club after years of issues since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.

Manchester United had a productive summer, recovering from a slow start to bring in the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Martin Dubravka.

And, according to 90min, the Red Devils want four more reinforcements in the coming transfer windows ahead.

It’s stated that United are open to signing a new No 1 at the end of the campaign, with David De Gea’s long-term future up in the air.

The Spain international’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and, currently, it doesn’t look like he’ll be offered a renewal on the same big terms as before.

United are undecided when it comes to bringing in a new goalkeeper but it’s something they’re certainly open to, amid links to Porto star Diogo Costa.

United are said to want a new right-back, too.

Though Diogo Dalot has done well, Ten Hag is primed to jettison Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the first opportunity – having been persuaded to give the former Crystal Palace star a chance back in the summer.

United want somebody to compete with Dalot in order to drive the Portugal international onto even greater things.

And Max Aarons and Jeremie Frimpong, of Norwich City and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, have both been tipped to join in recent days.

Another signing Ten Hag has in mind is that of a new striker, too.

Though Anthony Martial has done when called upon, the France international is injury-prone as he starts to approach the peak years of his career.

The goals have dried up for Cristiano Ronaldo who, in any case, is still hopeful of leaving United.

And it’ll be fascinating to see who they end up going after, with links to Joao Felix and Lautaro Martinez arising over the past few weeks.

The report adds that United are still hoping to strengthen their midfield as well, despite the summer arrivals of Eriksen and Casemiro.

Interest in Frenkie de Jong, of Barcelona, hasn’t completely gone away despite the Netherlands international’s reluctance to leave Catalonia back in the summer.

And United are back in for Jude Bellingham, despite the 19-year-old turning down their advances back in the summer of 2020.

As ever, it will hinge on the Glazers whether the next stage of Ten Hag’s rebuild can be completed.

The Americans, who are controversial figures at Old Trafford, sign off every signing the club ever makes.

And whether they back Ten Hag extensively come the end of the season, after spending more than originally intended earlier in the year, remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, after United’s narrow 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday, Ten Hag expressed a belief his side need more ‘options’ – especially in attack.

“We need options,” said the Dutchman.

“We have problems there [with injuries].

“Antony is not available, Anthony Martial is not available, Jadon Sancho is not available. So it’s thin.”
