The Man Utd fixtures Jadon Sancho could miss if Ed Woodward continues transfer stance

Manchester United discovered their fixtures for the 2020/21 campaign this morning but they could be without Jadon Sancho for four of those matches if Ed Woodward continues his transfer stance.

United have been trying to complete a deal for the England international but the saga looks set to drag on for some time.

Borussia Dortmund have ruled out selling their star this summer after their August 10 deadline was not met.

However, the Bundesliga side’s stance with Ousmane Dembele and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in recent windows suggests they could still let the 20-year-old leave.

If Sancho pushes for a switch to Old Trafford and United meet his £108million valuation a deal could still be struck.

Woodward is using his notorious transfer plan of playing the long-game in hope of striking a discount.

The Red Devils chief attempted the tactic with Leicester last summer but still ended up paying £80m for Harry Maguire.

He also waited until deadline day in January before completing a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The summer transfer deadline has been extended until October 5 this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

That allows Woodward more time to conclude a deal for Sancho and he looks likely to use every minute of it.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants his new signings in the door before the campaign gets underway on September 12.

But Sancho could miss four fixtures if Woodward drags his feet and waits until deadline day once again.

United’s opening match against Burnley will be rearranged because they reached the Europa League semi-finals and require more time to prepare for the new domestic season.

If that fixture is rescheduled before October 5 then Sancho may not yet be a United player.

The matches which the 20-year-old could also miss are the home clash with Crystal Palace on September 19 and the trip to Brighton a week later.

Woodward taking negotiations with Dortmund right up to the wire could also see Sancho miss the mouthwatering home tie against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham on October 3.
