Thomas Tuchel has backed Chelsea to take down the best team in the world and become kings of Europe. The Blues clash with Manchester City in tonight's All-English Champions League final in Porto.
Tuchel admits Pep Guardiola's team remain the greatest one on the planet and will be favourites heading into the seismic showdown.
But he has beaten the title winners twice in the last six weeks since taking charge – at Wembley in the FA Cup and Etihad in the Premier League.
And the German knows his stars have it in them to make it a hat-trick of triumphs in the biggest game of all.
Tuchel said: "We worked hard to be here and have the hunger. We are not over excited just to be here, we want to feel that after the match. We want to close that gap (on City) and leave Porto with the trophy.
"It's always tough to play against Manchester City. He (Guardiola) creates this team with huge belief and success, with a continuous winning mentality and maybe in this moment, the strongest team in Europe and the world.
"There was a huge gap in the league between us, but we closed it for 90 minutes in the Premier League and then at Wembley, so this is what we need to do again.
"We are well aware Manchester City are the benchmark, this team and manager, over the last few years. But in football your are always able to close the gap."
Tuchel has asked his stars how much they want it – and believes he can smell success on the horizon.
Tuchel, who has a full squad to choose from, added: "I fully trust everybody and it's about hunger at the highest level – how badly do you want it?
"They are very focused and disciplined in the build up. I feel the confidence, which is nice to have ahead of a final.
"We had two training sessions in London and now one more here, to work out the last details and for the players to get a feeling about the stadium – feel, smell it, the occasion is getting closer."
