Tottenham suffer double Covid-19 blow with duo set to miss next three matches

Tottenham Hotspur have been hit with a significant blow ahead of the Premier League returning this weekend.

The Lilywhites will be without two of their players for their clash away at Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon – due to positive Covid-19 cases.

Nuno Espirito Santos' side have only won one of their four clashes in the Premier League, and they face an uphill task to combat that stat.

According to football.london, two of Spurs' first-team players have tested positive for Covid-19.

However, the report continues that the players who tested positive, who remain unnamed, were not in close contact with the rest of the squad.

When quizzed about his injury updates in his pre-match press conference, Nuno said: "After the international break there are always huge issues that happen.

"We have problems but I will not say before the game," eluding to the two positive tests.

Nuno will also be without Davidson Sanchez and Steven Bergwijn, who he also offered updates on.

He said, on Sanchez: "A different situation. Not better or worse. Different."

Before adding on Bergwijn: "He joined us yesterday. He is totally integrated with the group. Trained well yesterday, trained well today. No pain. So it's about getting back to his highest levels of fitness, but he's in the process of it."
