Transfer news LIVE – Man Utd’s new Mata and Pochettino request

Man City boss Guardiola 'takes hat off' to Arsenal in Premier League title race

Premier League clubs are putting plans in place for what is expected to be a busy, high-spending summer transfer window. The likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea could all complete plenty of deals as they seek to strengthen their chances of a title push in the 2023-24 season.

All three have struggled in the top-flight this season, although United could still end the campaign with two trophies. Boss Erik ten Hag has hinted at not being entirely happy with his squad over the last few weeks.

The futures of several high-profile Premier League stars are in doubt. Harry Kane looks set to leave Tottenham. Mason Mount could depart Chelsea amid what is likely to be another summer of upheaval at Stamford Bridge under likely new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Arsenal are likely to make improvements to ensure they remain title contenders under Mikel Arteta next term. The likes of Brighton, Newcastle and Aston Villa could also spend big in order to challenge for Europe.

Bale to Wrexham

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has invited Gareth Bale for a round of golf.

However, the invitation comes on the condition that he spends the entire time begging the Wales icon to come out of retirement to play for Wrexham.

Bale announced his retirement from football in January after Wales’ disappointing World Cup exit.

Wrexham have just won promotion to the Football League and could sign a host of high-profile stars.

Pochettino makes Boehly request

Mauricio Pochettino has told Todd Boehly not to enter Chelsea’s dressing room, reports claim.

The Argentine is the strong favourite to become the next Blues manager.

But ESPN report that Pochettino has insisted on a ‘dressing room ban’ for the Chelsea co-owner.

Boehly has hit the headlines over the last few weeks by entering the dressing room to have his say on poor performances.

Man Utd’s new Mata

Man Utd are reportedly interested in Cesar Azpilicueta.

According to the Substack of journalist Simon Phillips, the Red Devils are keen to sign the long-serving Chelsea defender.

Azpilicueta would not be the first player to move from Chelsea to United.

His former Spain team-mate Juan Mata did so in 2014. As did Nemanja Matic three years later.
