The January transfer window is well truly open and moves are being made.
Arsenal have made their first signing with teenage defender Omar Rekik joining from Hertha Berlin, while Mesut Ozil appears to be edging ever closer to the exit door.
Chelsea are expected to offload players as they continue to be linked with West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, Liverpool need a centre-half but also face a battle to keep Gini Wijnaldum from leaving at the end of his contract.
Manchester United are another team who could do signing an experienced defender – but look set to continue building for the future by signing talented young players like Moises Caicedo.
Here, Daily Star Sport rates and slates the biggest transfer rumours.
Rumours we rate
Ozil contract to be terminated
It is understood that Arsenal are negotiating the termination of Mesut Ozil’s contract as he edges closer to a move to Fenerbahce.
Reports this week claim that Ozil is Turkey-bound after agreeing to join Fenerbahce.
Mikel Arteta has done very little to silence those rumours, failing to deny Ozil will leave the club this month and discussing his legacy on Friday.
Reputable Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu is now claiming that Arsenal have begun negotiations to terminate Ozil’s contract, instead of loaning him out ahead of a free transfer in the summer.
It is believed that Ozil will pick up more than £7m if an agreement is met, which would allow the club to stop paying his £350,000-a-week wages.
Daily Star says: 7/10 – Arsenal seem to want to cut ties with Ozil as soon as possible, and if terminating his contract means getting him off the wage ball, even at a premium, this seems very viable.
Tomori demands January exit
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has demanded to leave the club during the January transfer market as he is unhappy with his lack of playing time this season.
Tomori has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football in this campaign, and has fallen firmly down the pecking order under Frank Lampard.
The England international played 15 games last term, including a run of 11 consecutive starts, though he fell away towards the end of the season.
Leeds and Newcastle have been credited with interest in Tomori in the past, and will no doubt be keeping close tabs as the situation unfolds.
Rumours we don’t rate
Caicedo to join Brighton over Man Utd
Manchester United have suffered a huge setback in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, with the teenager reportedly set to join Brighton instead.
Some reports from his native Ecuador claimed that a move to United was ‘all agreed’ with just ‘legal issues’ to sort before a deal could be completed, but others insist that Independiente del Valle have not agreed to sell Caicedo this month.
That appears to be the case, in fact, with local Ecuadorian journalist Sebastian Machado now claiming that a move to United is no longer on the cards.
Instead, Caicedo is set to join Premier League rivals Brighton.
It is thought that Independiente del Valle have a good relationship with the Seagulls thanks to the pleasant dealings over the sale of Billy Arce.
Daily Star says: 4/10 – This rumour seems to have come from nowhere. It's not out of the question that Caicedo joins Brighton over United, but the player is known to be a Red Devils fan, so it would seem strange for him not to push for a move there instead if United are interested.
Julian Brandt to Arsenal on the cards
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly willing to sell Julian Brandt this month with Arsenal believed to be interested in the midfielder.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be eager to add another midfielder to his squad, while also looking to trim his options down.
And BILD claim that Dortmund would be willing to sell this winter, though the club have regularly insisted a transfer is not on the cards.
Reports had previously suggested that Brandt is tempted by a move to Arsenal following his lack of regular starts at Dortmund.
Daily Star says: 4/10 – It is looking increasingly likely that Arsenal will need a new creative midfielder with Ozil set to leave, but something just doesn't seem right about Brandt joining the Gunners.
