According to Marca, United sent several representatives to Atletico on Tuesday evening to discuss a potential deal with Felix’s entourage.

However, officials from the Spanish side informed United that they had no intentions of selling their star forward during the summer transfer window.

The club explained how they had no plans to part ways with their ‘franchise’ players during the 2022-2023 campaign.

Felix joined Atletico from Benfica in 2019 for £113million. He took a while to find his grove with Diego Simeone’s side but began to settle in soon after penning a seven-year.

During the 2021-2022 season, Felix scored 10 goals in 35 appearances, matching the same goal tally from the campaign before.

Alvaro Morata heaped praise on Felix and explained how he loved playing alongside his team-mate at Atletico.

‘The truth is that Joao has a special talent, that last pass. Although also Correa, Lemar, Marcos, Koke… the people behind put up great balls and we have to keep working and run into space,’ he told reporters.

‘I really want to play here, work, play games, there are many competitions and I’m very excited for this season, but as always here.

‘They have always treated me very well and I still have to work and give everything for the team. There will be times when it goes better, others worse, but it won’t be for lack of work.’

While Felix said he had no intention of leaving Atletico this summer and that he was ‘focused’ on his future with the LaLiga giants.

United are also interest in Casemiro – but Real Madrid have no interest in selling the star

‘A departure from Atletico is not on the table,’ Felix told Marca. ‘I’m fine and focused on Atletico. I’m calm about the future, aware of what I can do and I’m fine with myself.’

Manchester United are also interest in Casemiro – but Real Madrid have no interest in selling the 30-year-old star who helped them win five Champions League titles.

As it stands, Casemiro’s contract with Real runs until 2025. Therefore, United have also registered an interest in Juventus’s Adrien Rabiot – although negotiations have stalled over his salary.
