The club has been embroiled in controversy after it released two bizarre videos on social media relating to the star striker.

The first showed footage of Osimhen appealing for a penalty in the goalless draw with Bologna on Sunday with a squeaky, sped-up voice dubbed over the top. The clip then showed the Nigeria international missing the spot kick. The second since-deleted video appeared to compare the striker to a coconut.

Osimhen has deleted all pictures relating to the Serie A club on his official Instagram account but has since re-joined the squad ahead of their clash with Udinese on Wednesday evening.

However, in a video posted by Italian journalist Gennaro Del Vecchio, the 24-year-old seemingly blanked his Napoli teammates Piotr Zielinkzi and Diego Demme having shaken the hand of team manager Giuseppe Santoro as he walked towards the team hotel.

Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A games last season as he helped fire Napoli to a historic Scudetto; the club’s first since 1990.

The striker attracted interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in the summer, and is now said to be considering legal action against the club according to his agent, Roberto Calenda.
