Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke or even Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp are partnerships that spring to mind when you think of deadly duos, but there could be a new one on display at the 2022 World Cup.
Serbia could be the side with the surprise partnership up front to watch out for in Qatar, with their star strikers Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic in top form.
They may not be favourites to even progress out of the group stages, but they will definitely cause issues for defenders and strike fear into their opponents in Group G, especially given the fact that they scored 72 goals between them last season.
Serbia’s hopes of a successful 2022 World Cup will heavily rely on their deadly strike duo
Juventus star Vlahovic and Fulham’s target man Mitrovic both work well together up front and have scored plenty of goals alongside each other for their nation, especially the latter who recently became the first Serbian to score 50 goals for his country.
The deadly duo have both enjoyed good fortunes in front of goal at club level, which bodes well for Serbia, as they will heavily depend on their key figures when facing the likes of Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon.
They will have competition in attack from Luka Jovic, who is currently rebuilding his career at Serie A side Fiorentina after his failed stint at Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Fulham striker Aleksandr Mitrovic became the first Serbian to score 50 goals for his country
The talk around Aleksandar Mitrovic heading into this season was that he might not be able to do in the Premier League, well he has sure proved that wrong.
The Fulham target man has been influential in the Cottagers brilliant start to the season in the top-fight.
Marco Silva’s currently sit seventh in the league table, much to everyone’s surprise, and Mitrovic is a key reason why that is the case.

The 28-year-old has notched nine goals in just 12 matches so far this campaign and is showing no signs of slowing down.
His last season in the Premier League during the 2020-21 campaign, he only managed three goals, therefore the questions began over whether he can cut it at the top level in England.
The former Newcastle United striker has constantly produced in the Championship and on the international stage, but is now showing what he can do at the highest level.
This comes off the back of an impressive campaign where the talisman smashed the Championship goals record last season, finding the net 43 times in the league, as he helped guide Fulham back to the top-flight – baring in mind he only played 44 times, an impressive feat.
On the international stage for Serbia, there has never been any doubt as he has always performed when playing for his country, although he has even stepped up his goalscoring level in recent times.
Mitrovic has scored six goals in the last four matches that he has featured in for Serbia.

The 22-year-old has plenty of expectation placed on his shoulders, being compared to the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe among the youngsters that are becoming elite stars.
That pressure and his big money move to Juventus will mean all eyes will be on Dusan Vlahovic to perform in Qatar and show the world exactly why he has been put in the same bracket as such global superstars.
Juventus beat off plenty of competition from other big-name clubs to sign Vlahovic for a fee in the region of £70million in January following his impressive form for Fiorentina.

He somewhat continued his good fortunes after arriving in Turin, despite a period of adapting to his new team, scoring a total of 29 goals between both his old club and his new one last season.
Vlahovic did arguably see his goals return slow down at Juve after smashing 20 goals home for Fiorentina in the first-half of the campaign before only managing nine more after his big-money January transfer.
This season has been a different story as Juve are struggling in the Serie A and have already been dumped out of the Champions League at the group-stages.
Despite the poor form at the club, Vlahovic has been the bright spark, scoring eight times in just 15 games so far.
Six of those goals coming in just 10 Serie A matches while finding the back of the net twice in Juve’s disappointing Champions League campaign, as they finished third and were dumped into the Europa League.
His country will be hoping he can build on his strong start to the season and his previous few seasons when they begin play at the World Cup.
Vlahovic, much like Mitrovic has a terrific record for his country, despite having missed a number of Serbia’s recent matches through injury, the young striker has still notched eight times in just 16 caps.
