West Ham fans are visibly running out of patience over the move for Jesse Lingard.

It was thought that the attacker was heading to east London to pick up where he left off with the Hammers – but now it seems that this is not the case, with Nottingham Forest looking to nab the former England international from right under their noses.

Lingard, it is reported by various outlets, is now in advanced negotiations to sign for the Reds and join Steve Cooper’s men in the Midlands.

But this has not gone down too well with some fans, who say that Lingard is not doing himself any favours. One, a reporter for The Athletic, blasted: “A lot can still change in this window but Lingard has dragged this on for far too long. He should be in pre-season working on his fitness ahead of the new season. Judging by the reaction on Twitter, a lot of West Ham fans are fed up with it all. #WHUFC”

A supporter from another club said: “If I was a @WestHam fan I’d be telling that greedy @JesseLingard to p*** off somewhere else he’s taken the total mick out of #WHUFC asking for more money, then stalling, mate you ain’t even that good, a mediocre primadonna player who thinks he’s way better than he is. #Transfers”.

A Hammers fan added: “West Ham would do well to wash their hands of Lingard thoughts. On a sporting basis they have become a compelling option. The prevarication all summer, and now Forest moving ahead in race, speaks volumes. Either he “wants it” or not. Clearly in this case, not.”

Another stated: “He's not interested in football. If he was he would of joined a year ago. He's chasing one last big contract and using us as a bargaining chip to get it.” A last one said: “If he was serious about getting back in the England squad he should have started pre season with a new club on the 1st July not having an extra 3 weeks off.”

Indeed, the Guardian have reported today that Forest are in advanced talks with the playmaker – in an attempt to the Irons to the former Manchester United attacker, who could sign on a free deal as he’s out of contract.

West Ham have held lengthy negotiations with Lingard but their efforts could well prove in danger of seeing him move to the City Ground, with it believed that the newly-promoted side have made an extremely lucrative offer.

Lingard, who’s now 29 has been linked to clubs like Everton, Leicester, Tottenham and Newcastle.
