West Ham could secure two incoming signings from the Championship before October 16.
Premier League clubs can do business with the lower leagues for the next nine days, with Brentford playmaker Said Benrahma attracting plenty of interest from the top tier.
The Hammers are looking to replace Felipe Anderson following his season-long loan move to Porto, and will be boosted in their ability after getting the majority of the Brazilian’s wages off the books.
The departure of Jack Wilshere has also freed up room in David Moyes’ squad following the promise from David Gold and David Sullivan that the sale of Grady Diangana will be entirely reinvested.
The Standard have reported that West Ham have ‘long tracked’ Benrahma, who is available for £25m.
In addition, Josh King looks set to leave Bournemouth, who is also keen to move back to the Premier League.
Benrahma, 25, is set to follow Ollie Watkins away from west London after the club failed to secure promotion from the Championship by losing in the Play-Off final to rivals Fulham.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank said of the player’s asking price last week: “Honestly. If the price is right we are open to selling, but if not we will be happy for him to stay.”
Sullivan said of his plans back during a chat with talkSPORT in September: “It’s the manager’s decision.
“He doesn’t want to bring in players who are just numbers, just squad players. He wants to bring players in who will improve the team.
“We have a number of bids in for a number if players, but teams don’t want to lose them; these are key players at decent sized clubs, outside the UK.

“They don’t want to lose them so whether we get any of these players I do not know.”
Before adding: “We’ve got a very unbalanced squad. We’ve now got the funds to buy a player or two, but unfortunately at the moment the players the manager wants we can’t get, and he’ll be spending 18 hours a day looking at types trying to find players.
“I’m waiting for targets for the manager and we’ve got two or three bids in, but unfortunately the benchmark is very high and it’s very hard to get those players.”
