Tottenham striker Harry Kane has revealed what Andy Robertson said to him after a strong tackle prompted calls for the England captain to see red. Eventually, it was Robertson himself who was sent off for a reckless second-half challenge, as the two sides contested a thrilling 2-2 draw in north London.

Kane and Robertson were both central to the action as Spurs and Liverpool played out a breathless encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Englishman broke his goal drought inside the first quarter-of-an-hour to put Antonio Conte’s side ahead, but Diogo Jota equalised with a trademark header before half time.

Robertson then got on the scoresheet to put Liverpool ahead, before Heung-min Son promptly brought Tottenham level after a host of missed chances in the game.

Robertson’s red then completed the drama, but the referee’s decision was not without controversy as Kane’s high first-half challenge was not deemed worthy of the maximum punishment, despite the cries of many.
