Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says there are no underlying issues with either Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial after the pair were left out of his starting XI to face Chelsea.
The Red Devils take on the Blues at Wembley for a place in the FA Cup final and Solskjaer made five changes to his side from the one that beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on Thursday.
The most notable absentees were Pogba and Martial, particularly as the French pair have been in such blistering form.
United are still vying for a spot in the Champions League and can ill-afford to be without the duo for their final fixtures against West Ham and Leicester City.
Asked if Pogba and Martial were left out because they’re ‘not ready’, Solskjaer replied: ‘Oh no they’re played a lot of football.
‘It’s about freshening up the team but also giving them the chance to make the difference once they come on.’
One positive for United is that Brandon Williams is fit to start after a horrific injury that he sustained against Southampton.
The left-back missed the win against Palace with an eye injury but Solskjaer says he told him that he’s fit to play.
‘He said he’s fine,’ said Solskjaer.
‘He says he can see out of it now because there was lots of blood on it so we just had to give him enough time [for his] eye [to] function enough. He’s ready and raring to go.’
