Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been slammed by Willian's agent after the former Chelsea winger agreed to terminate his contract at the club following a torrid Premier League season.
Kia Joorabchian has said that the project promised to his client was non-existent at the Emirates, which led to Willian's departure just one year into a three-season deal.
The 33-year-old former Shakhtar Donetsk forward scored just one goal across 37 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions, managing only three further assists after two on his debut against Fulham.
Just hours after it was revealed that Willian agreed to tear up his Arsenal deal which was worth a further £20m, his agent has lashed out at former Arsenal skipper Arteta.
Kia Joorabchian told talkSPORT when asked about the numbers: “Yes, it is true, it’s mostly accurate. I’m not going to reveal numbers exactly, but the reports are pretty much accurate.
“He terminated his contract and he did it willingly, he’s probably one of the first players to do so.
“Previously players, especially at Arsenal, have sat their contracts out, but he wasn’t one of them.”
Adding: “When he joined, he sincerely joined because he was very much at the centre of Arteta’s thinking.

"Arteta made several presentations to Willian about what his role would be at Arsenal. but that didn’t work out. He went for ‘the project’ but it wasn’t there."
“Willian had an offer from Chelsea to extend for two more years, but he wanted three years and he made the move. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for him.
“He was getting very heavily criticised over why he made the move here, but none of the things that have been suggested have not been the case.”
Willian said following his departure and subsequent move to Corinthians: "I would like to thank Arsenal for the opportunity they have given to me and for the warm welcome received by everybody at the club.
"Unfortunately things on the pitch didn’t go the way we had all planned and hoped, I received a lot of criticism especially from some members of the press that I had come here for financial reasons… I hope with my actions today explain to those people and they now understand that was not the case.
"I hope it teaches some people that they should not be so quick to pass judgement and create bad environments to make themselves important even though I accept that’s part of the game.
"All my career I have done everything to be the best I can be I always want to win and I find it hard to accept not doing so. Unfortunately it didn’t happen for me at Arsenal and I am sorry about that."
