Wolfsburg have 36 shots to Slavia Prague’s one but match still finishes 0-0

Wolfsburg Ladies played out an incredible 0-0 draw where they absolutely battered Slavia Prague Women but could not find a way past goalkeeper Olivie Lukasova.

In what can only be described as a real-life FIFA game, the German side barraged their opponents on Friday night with 36 shots – failing to score with any of them. By comparison, Slavia Prague had just one but managed to cling on for a point.

While the match might not have meant too much, Wolfsburg have already qualified from their Champions League group and sit atop, fans will be bamboozled over how their side failed to leave the AOK Stadion without all three points.

Of those 36 shots, 13 were on target – giving Lukasova plenty to do in the Prague net. At just 21, it was quite the evening for the Czech Republic ace, who has played every match so far for her club in the Champions League this season.

But her defence were not slacking either, with nine shots blocked while the other 14 were aimed off target. Wolfsburg also had the lion's share of possession, keeping 62 per cent of the ball.

Germany have the most successful women's teams in Europe, with the Frauen-Bundesliga totalling nine titles from four clubs. And Wolfsburg lead that chart with two of their own, winning the Champions League in 2013 and 2014.

They also hold the record for the most Frauen-Bundesliga titles, winning seven – with 1. FFC Frankfurt also landing that many. It is quite the far cry from the men's team, who have had to battle against some tough times recently.

In 2018, they just survived relegation by the skin of their teeth after beating Holstein Kiel in the play-offs, though they did manage to finish in a Europa League spot the following year.

However, they crashed out before even reaching the group stage when they lost to AEK Athens.
