After 63 matches, some 166 goals scored and hundreds of thousands of fans inside the stadiums, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has reached its conclusion with the World Cup final between France and Argentina. The winter tournament will see Lusail Stadium play host to 88,966 people, with hundreds of millions more watching from around the world for the most-anticipated football event on the planet.

The two nations will go head to head in the Qatari desert on Sunday in a clash of the titans, with Lionel Messi bidding to win his first World Cup at the fifth attempt. But if he is to inspire the Albiceleste to a historic victory, which would be their first since 1986, Lionel Scaloni’s side must get past his club team-mate Kylian Mbappe and co, although it remains to be seen whether the pair can survive such a tense meeting after doubts emerged over their relationship.

France have survived a health scare after camel flu cases swept their camp in Qatar, with five players returning to training after being struck down by illness. Les Bleus will be confident their squad will be fit and firing for today’s showpiece event as they battle it out to be crowned champions of the world once more.
