Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku were involved in a sensational bust-up in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
The pair butted heads at the end of the first half and Lukaku launched an X-rated outburst in the direction of Ibrahimovic.
The furious Belgian appeared to say "f*** you and your wife" in the direction of his former Manchester United team-mate, who had appeared seemingly referred to him as a "little donkey"
The pair were both booked and Lukaku had to be held back by Inter staff as he made his way to the tunnel for half-time.
The clash raised eyebrows – but the pair have a fascinating history dating back to their very first encounter in Manchester United training.
Asked what he learned from Ibrahimovic back in 2019, Lukaku told Manchester United's official website: “Everything I learned from Zlatan was great, from his stories that he told me when he was at Inter, AC Milan, Barcelona and even Ajax, to being on the field working with him, seeing how competitive he was.
“I remember one training session,” Lukaku continued. “Because we were both strikers, we were never on the same team and, at one point, there was a 50/50 challenge. He went full-on against me!
“That is when I knew this guy wants to compete and this guy wants to fight for his spot. That is why he changed me. It was an eye-opener. The guy had to fight to be in the position he is in.
“So, I learned just to focus, work hard and enjoy it as well. Because he is a guy who you can have a lot fun with as well and having his personality in the dressing room was good.”
But whilst Lukaku was respectful of his former team-mate, the sentiment was not reciprocated by Ibrahimovic.
In 2019, he revealed a bet the pair had at Manchester United where he jokingly offered him £50 for every "decent first touch" as he told fans "don't expect good technique from Lukaku" when he joined Inter.
“I will say this on Romelu: don’t expect good technique from Lukaku. His best strength is sheer power. If only he’d listened to me,” Zlatan told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“At Manchester United, we made a bet: ‘I’ll give you £50 for every decent first touch you make.
“‘He replied: ‘What do I win if I get them all right?’ I told him nothing, he would simply become a better player.
“For the record, he never accepted the bet! Perhaps he was afraid of losing?!
“Joking aside, Lukaku has this mad hunger to prove himself to the world and I’m sure he will do well at Inter too.”
The pair have been battling to become the king of Milan, with Lukaku writing on Twitter : "There's a new king in town" last February after scoring in a 4-2 derby win.
Eight months later, Ibrahimovic helped AC Milan win the derby after his return and hit back, stating: “Milan never had a king, they have a GOD.”
This time their battle spilled over onto the pitch and caught the headlines before Christian Eriksen's late winner put Lukaku on the winning side.
