Zlatan Ibrahimovic tears into 'spineless coward' Pep Guardiola
‘I brought my f***ing Ferrari and parked in front of his office’: Zlatan Ibrahimovic tears into Pep Guardiola, shedding new light on feud at Barcelona with ‘spineless coward’ boss, who he says ‘has no b***s’
- The former PSG striker joined Barcelona in 2009, but quickly fell out of favour
- After being told he couldn’t drive his Ferrari, Zlatan told Pep ‘you can go to hell’
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has shed light on his troubled relationship with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, revealing a tense moment the pair shared when he disobeyed orders not to bring his Ferrari to training.
The 42-year-old Swede joined the Catalan giants in a blockbuster deal in 2009, scoring 16 goals in 29 appearances for the club.
However, unearthing what his time at the club was like, Zlatan said he no ‘longer had the freedom on the pitch’ he needed in order to succeed as he became surplus to requirements.
Describing one of the first times he met Pep, who he has formerly described as a ‘spineless coward’ with ‘no b***s’ in his autobiography, he told Piers Morgan Uncensored: ‘When I met Pep Guardiola, he told me: “Remember, the players here do not come with Ferraris.”
‘What did I do? Of course. I brought my f***ing Ferrari. I yelled: “You haven’t got any b***s!” and worse than that I added: “You can go to hell!”
The former Juventus striker takes instructions from Pep Guardiola before they were knocked out of the Champions League by Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan
The 42-year-old striker said he was told by Pep that he could not bring his Ferrari to training, but he did so anyway
In his autobiography, Zlatan described the explosive aftermath of Barcelona’s Champions league exit to Inter Milan.
He said: ‘I completely lost it, and you might have expected Guardiola to say a few words in response, but he’s a spineless coward.
‘He just picked up the metal box, like a little caretaker, and then left, never to mention it again, not a word.’
Discussing the tactical change that saw him be ‘sacrificed’, Zlatan said the system went from a 4-3-3 to a 4-5-1 to favour Lionel Messi.
The Swedish legend went on to enjoy a very successful career playing for AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United before moving to the MLS in 2018 to play for LA Galaxy.
He then returned back to AC Milan in 2020 where he remained at the club for three years before emotionally retiring in June.
