1.50 Sky Bet and Symphony Group Handicap
EL ASTRONAUTE won this three years ago off a handicap mark of 101 from stall 18.
Today he races off 102 and is berthed in box 19. His 20-1 odds are worth a go with the ground to suit, and despite a poor run last time out, he has shown enough to suggest he could be involved at the business end.
Jockey Jason Hart gets on well with El Astronaute.
Whenthedealinsdone was a good winner at Goodwood and is 6lb higher. He is a threat along with Twilight Calls, who was fourth to him at Goodwood and is a strong traveller who will appreciate the inevitable strong gallop.
Copper Knight won at the Dante meeting over track and trip and is a solid each-way play at 14-1.
WIN: EL ASTRONAUTE
Each-way: Copper Knight
2.25 Tattersalls Acomb Stakes
A HOT hot race where any of the five could win.
Royal Patronage is tempting at the price (12-1) but Richard Hannon’s EHRAZ has made such a big impression in both his runs that he is marginally preferred.
He chased home the reopposing Noble Truth on debut at Newmarket before cosily winning an Ascot maiden. Imperial Fighter won easily at Glorious Goodwood and holds entries in all the top two-year-old races while Hugo Palmer’s Dubawi Legend could not have been more impressive at Doncaster on his first day at school.
Royal Patronage, at the price, is the obvious each-way play in a cracking contest.
Each-way: Royal Patronage
3.00 Sky Bet Great Voltigeur Stakes
KEMARI is another from the conveyor belt of crack colts from the yard of Charlie Appleby.
The Queen’s Vase winner could be even better over this shorter trip of 1m 4f and is taken to defy a 3lb penalty to win this famous old race.
Sir Lucan is Frankie Dettori’s only ride of the day and was a solid second at Goodwood to Ottoman Emperor. The galloping track will suit him much better today.
Dante third High Definition disappointed in the Irish Derby although it is notable that Ryan Moore keeps the faith.
If Kemari’s stablemate Yibir can recapture his Bahrain Trophy form on his favoured quicker ground, he is overpriced at 10-1.
3.35 Juddmonte International
ANDREW BALDING will be popping the champagne corks if his filly ALCOHOL FREE (3.35) wins today’s Juddmonte International.
The three-year-old tackles 1m 2f for the first time on day one of the Welcome to York Ebor Festival as she bids to win her fourth Group One race.
The absence of St Mark’s Basilica has left the race wide open and Alcohol Free looks by far the best value at 11-2.
She was brilliant in the Sussex Stakes when she put Poetic Flare in his place and there is every confidence she will stay the extra two furlongs.
Oisin Murphy is riding at the top of his game and expect him to arrive fast and late to chin Mishriff and Love .
They head the market but neither appeal at their skinny prices – although both will be hard to beat.
Alenquer and Mac Swiney are both a bit overpriced and it’s a pity there are not eight runners.
Mac Swiney is a Classic winner (Irish 2,000 Guineas) and it would be no surprise if he outran his 16-1 odds.
WIN: ALCOHOL FREE
Each-way: Mac Swiney

4.10 Sky Bet handicap
NICHOLAS T is an enigma but it would be no surprise to see him swoop fast and late to land another valuable handicap.
He won the two-mile Pitmen’s Derby at 33-1 – incredible for a horse seen as a 1m 2f specialist.
Scottish trainer Jim Goldie
rolls the dice again today.
Platform Nineteen ran well at Goodwood and is a course winner. He is a threat along with Sir Mark Prescott’s Bodyline, who ran a solid race on his seasonal bow.
Torcello would ideally want it softer but veteran Who Dares Wins has dropped in the weights and with Tom Marquand in the saddle he could pinch a place at a big price.
WIN: NICHOLAS T
Each-way: Who Dares Wins
4.45 Ire Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish Fillies’ Handicap
TENAYA CANYON is improving and has the scope to win this with Saffie Osborne claiming a crucial 5lb.
She is worse off at the weights with Mid Winter for a narrow defeat at Doncaster two runs ago.
But the selection is lightly raced and getting better with racing.
She proved this with her Racing League victory last time out, which was decisive and a career best effort. A 5lb rise in the weights is fair and she is napped to give Saffie victory.
Tweet Tweet and Miss Nay Never will have plenty of support.
So will Noorban, who is consistent and will appreciate taking on her own sex. She looks a decent each-way play.
WIN: TENAYA CANYON
5.20 Sky Bet Nursery
WONDERFUL WORLD was expected to win the Brocklesby Stakes back in March but bumped into the useful Chipotle.
He had a decent break before reappearing to win a maiden at Brighton in a canter 12 days ago.
He has the in-form David Probert in the plate and appeals off a mark of 82.
Aristobulus looks well treated, even with a penalty for a win at Nottingham last week, and is a big danger. He is 4lb well-in as his handicap mark is due to shoot up.
Frankella is another major player while Lady Lade cannot be discounted for Keith Dalgleish.
Sisters In The Sky was a nice winner at Goodwood and holds each-way appeal at 14-1.
WIN: WONDERFUL WORLD
Each-way: Ye Gud Thing
