Bangladesh have been slammed by cricket fans across the world for taking the ‘worst review in cricket history' during their opening Test match with New Zealand at the Bay Oval.
The visitors are no doubt on top in the Test match, and look set to potentially inflict a shock defeat on the 2021 world Test champions after dominating the opening four days in Mount Maunganui.
Despite being on top in the game, Mominul Haque and his team no doubt left the field of play on day four red faced after taking what is being labelled as the ‘worst review in cricket history’.
With New Zealand 90/2 and trailing by 40 runs in their second innings, Bangladesh bowler Taskin Ahmed thought he had dangerman Ross Taylor trapped in front LBW.
Following the delivery Ahmed went up in appeal to the umpire, but was only joined by murmurs from his teammates as it clearly looked to have come off the face of Taylor’s bat, rather than his pad.
Ahmed – like most bowlers – was convinced he had his man though and persuaded captain Haque to remarkably review the decision, and take it upstairs to the TV umpire.
What came next however was nothing short of embarrassment for Ahmed and Haque, as the front on camera angle showed the ball clearly crash into the bat of Taylor, nowhere near the New Zealander’s front pad.

Following the stark evidence a large cry of laughter could be heard breaking out in the TV commentary box, before the camera cut to a bemused looking captain Haque.
Understandably the review has since been ridiculed by the cricketing community online with many labelling it as the worst they had ever seen.
One fan joked on Twitter that it was almost as if the Bangladesh team had clicked the wrong button on a computer game, as a @AshleyClarkey8 tweeted: “Honestly seems like they was playing a game on the Xbox and accidentally pressed the D pad to appeal”
@Triplemcricket also enjoyed a laugh at the expense of the Bangladeshi’s mistake, by tweeting: “We may have just witnessed the worst LBW review ever!”
Even popular glasses brand Specsavers got in on the act, replying to a video of the review: “But one of the best adverts for eye tests you've probably EVER seen”
Whilst Haque and his side were left embarrassed by the review, they will head into day five more than pleased with their efforts on the field, as they have the hosts 147/5 with a day to play.
This leaves New Zealand just 17 runs ahead with only five wickets remaining, with Bangladesh still having an innings after putting on an impressive 458 at their first attempt.
