Dwayne Bravo has ‘guaranteed’ that Chennai Super Kings will come back ‘better and stronger’ after leaving the Indian Premier League due to a groin injury.
CSK confirmed on Wednesday that West Indies all-rounder Bravo would leave the squad in Dubai after injuring his groin in training.
Bravo endured one of his most subdued IPL campaigns, taking six wickets in six matches and batting just twice.
Chennai won the IPL in 2018 and reached last year’s final but are currently bottom of the table with just three wickets from ten matches.
Bravo said in a video message: ‘Hi guys, it’s sad news. It’s sad for me to be leaving my team, CSK.
‘To all our true, die hard fans, I want you to keep encouraging the team, keep supporting us.
‘This was not the season that we expected or the season our fans wanted but we gave it our best.
‘But keep supporting us and I can guarantee you we will come back stronger and better like champions.
‘We’re one of the most successful franchises and we should be proud to be members and fans of CSK.’
Bravo did not feature for Chennai Super Kings on Monday as they slipped to a seven-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals.
Following the loss, head coach Stephen Fleming said: ‘The mood is pretty down and that’s fair enough. We’ve come close in a few games but today we were thoroughly outplayed.
‘We knew it was a crucial game to stay in the competition. There’s still an outside chance we will get through but when you’re relying on other results it’s hard to be positive.
‘We’ve got to look at our next four games and either get back in the competition or find out some answers with some other players we’ve got.’
