Dawid Malan has broken the record for the highest points total in the ICC’s Twenty20 batting rankings following his man-of-the-series displays against South Africa.
Malan, 33, was already top of the ratings but his 173 runs in the landslide series win over the Proteas has propelled him to 915 points, extending his advantage over second-placed Babar Azam, of Pakistan.
The Yorkshire left-hander has now passed 50 in 10 of his 19 England appearances in the format, the latest seeing him finish unbeaten on 99 in a crushing nine-wicket victory in Cape Town.

Malan has been in sensational form throughout the series, scoring 173 runs in total
The 33-year-old has ended the debate about his place in the team ahead of the World Cup
Not since July 2018 when Australian captain Aaron Finch sat top of the table has an individual passed 900 ratings points.
The 3-0 scoreline achieved by Eoin Morgan’s team in South Africa has also pushed England to the summit of the T20 team rankings, ahead of Australia.
