The ECB are looking at alternative fixtures for England’s women in September with India expected to pull out of a tri-series here due to the rise of coronavirus cases on the subcontinent.

If India decline the invitation to play in a seven-match competition involving South Africa, England are likely to play one-day and Twenty20 series against South Africa.

With an eye on the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand early next year, the focus will be on the ODIs and a 5-2 split has been suggested.

A 24-strong England squad have been practising for the past four weeks and the ECB want Heather Knight’s team to play the same number of matches, even if India pull out.
