Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Bendigo on Thursday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Friday’s card at Bendigo.

TOUR OF DUTY (R4 No.5 – $2.50)

Tour Of Duty has hit the line well at both previous first-up runs, including in a super-strong maiden last time in. He closed well in his last jumpout at Flemington and can resume with a win.

DECENT RAINE (R2 No.8 – $3)

Decent Raine was simply a class above her rivals at Echuca first-up. She faces tougher opposition but can go on with it at Bendigo.

KAITUKU (R3 No.15 – $5.50)

Kaituku finished five lengths from the impressive winner Deel Blaster first-up but will improve sharply on firmer footing. Extra ground and blinkers will help the four-year-old as well.

RATTLE AND BANG (R7 No.12 – $9)

Rattle And Bang will chase a hat trick of wins at Bendigo after two wins over 1000m. He’s up in class and trip but he’ll be thereabouts if he reproduces his Cranbourne trial alongside Oakleigh Plate winner Portland Sky.

The consistent Thoughts’n’prayers is worth a little each-way ticket in the last at Bendigo on Friday. He races handy to the speed and a little weight drop will suit him in an even race.

Apprentice Josh Richards has only four rides at Bendigo on Friday, but they are all winning chances from top stables. LUNA ONE (R1 No.2 – $3.60), FLYING EVELYN (R2 No.2 – $2.50), BRAZEN BULLY (R7 No.10 – $7.50), GALACTIC EXPRESS (R8 No.2 – $17).

The Valley will take centre stage on Saturday with the McKenzie Stakes and Carlyon Stakes while Wangaratta also races. Sale and Swan Hill will host Victoria’s Sunday meeting before we’re back at the Pakenham Synthetic track on Monday. The Ballarat Synthetic track will be the scene of Tuesday’s card.
