Herald Sun form analyst Gilbert Gardiner runs the rule over the Friday night meeting at Cranbourne.
RUNAWAY TRAIN (R4 No.3 – $3.60)
Indomitable Clayton Douglas-Jamie Kah combination chasing a hat-trick with the four-year-old mare. Narrowly won a Cranbourne maiden two starts back then far too good at Mornington. Rises sharply in grade but stable’s placement second to none lately.
MIDWEST (R1 No.3 – $2.40)
Not disgraced at Caulfield on debut last campaign, a race won by eventual Blue Diamond contender General Beau, then ran into Tycoon Humma at Bendigo. Should find this assignment easier and respect the stable/jockey combination.
STATS (R3 No.7 – $4.20)
No match for the smart Burleigh Boy last start at Ballarat but had the rest of them covered. Back on the home deck and drawn to get every chance.
SPANISH VICTORY (R6 No.6 – $12)
Won a Hamilton maiden on debut then not disgraced running seventh of nine at Flemington, beaten less than six lengths, last December. Given time and proven on rain-affected ground.
Experienced jockey could give the early Quaddie a shake.
COMMANDS THE FIELD (R1 No.6 – $4.80), SLY CORNER (R2 No.5 – 2.30), LUNARES (R3 No.10 – $4.40), ARCHREGENCY (R4 No.6 – $5.50), CRYSTAL CHIEF (R6 No.1 – $4.60), SODALITE (R7 No.11 – $21) and I AM VERVE (R8 No.12 – $51)
