Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Sale on Wednesday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Wednesday’s card at Sale.

HEIR TO THE THRONE (Race 5 No. 1 – $3.40)

Heir To The Throne has raced in great heart in this distance range at Cranbourne at his last three outings. He’ll again get every chance from barrier four and rain won’t worry him.

THE ART OF FLYING (Race 2 No. 11 – $3.70)

The Art Of Flying has drawn awkwardly but is a top chance of making a winning return at Sale. He has been gelded since his last run and jumped out well leading up to this.

FIGHTING WHISKEY (Race 7 No. 10 – $7)

The Mick Kent-trained gelding has only won the one race but resumed with a solid second at Moe last time out. He’s a second-up winner and has the ability threaten in an open race.

YULONG IMPACT (Race 8 No. 9 – $4)

Yulong Impact finished off like a promising type when getting the money at Moe first-up. The placegetters out of the race have run well since and he’ll be better on slightly firmer footing.

MODERN LEGEND (Race 4 No. 11 – $8.50)

Modern Legend tried hard when chasing an easy winner at Cranbourne at his second outing. He’ll be better again for that and again rates a top each-way chance at Sale.

Mark Zahra booted home a double at Flemington last Saturday so goes into Wednesday’s meeting in good form for his five rides. GET ON THE GAS (Race 2 No. 4 – $13), TWOTOCHOOSE (Race 4 No. 7 – $5), PRINCE ALBY (Race 5 No. 3 – $6), I’M THUNDERSTRUCK (Race 6 No. 1 – $1.65), YULONG IMPACT (Race 8 No. 9 – $4)

Ballarat races again on the turf track on Thursday before the start of the famous Swan Hill carnival on Friday. The Sandown Hillside track will be the scene of next Saturday’s Melbourne meeting while Swan Hill races again on Saturday and Sunday. Edenhope also races on Sunday.
