Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Wednesday’s card at Sandown.
STAR OF EDEN (Race 4 No.1 – $6.50)
Star Of Eden came from midfield when too strong for her rivals on the Hillside track last time and should get all the favours in a race that is unlikely to be run at a fast clip on Wednesday.
DOUCEUR (Race 2 No.1 – $2.80)
Douceur was impressive when finishing off well to score on debut in the wet at Ballarat in March. She’s had a bit more time to develop and won a trial at Traralgon leading up to this.
LEALE (Race 5 No.2 – $17)
Leale led but weakened behind the smart Kurabui second-up but will be much fitter for that outing. She drops back to BM64 level on Wednesday and rates a great each-way chance at odds.
KUZCO LAD (Race 8 No.6 – $7.50)
Kuzco Lad raced well when switched to Victoria last spring and looks well-placed to threaten first-up at Sandown. He’s a natural on-pace runner and has the services of Damien Oliver.

WHITTINGTON STONE (Race 7 No.15 – $15)
Whittington Stone resumed with a sound third in heavy ground at Ballarat but steps up to his favoured 1400m at Sandown. He’ll get a good trail behind the leaders and should be thereabouts again.
Apprentice Matthew Cartwright will head into Wednesday’s Sandown meeting with plenty of confidence after a double at Mornington on Monday. POLINA (Race 3 No.11 – $17), MONTIA (Race 4 No.3 – $6.50), READY TO INDULGE (Race 5 No.14 – $19), ROLAND GARROS (Race 6 No.6 – $41), SHEZAWITNESS (Race 7 No.16 – $19), NATIONAL CHOICE (Race 8 No.1 – $3).
THE WEEK AHEAD
The jumpers are in action at Warrnambool on Thursday. Geelong races on Friday before Flemington and Donald hold Saturday’s Victorian meetings. The Ballarat Synthetic track will be in use again on Sunday while Bendigo also races. Wangaratta will host Monday’s meeting.
