GDL: Win Big at Derby City Gaming in Downtown Louisville!

The Kentucky Derby might be the first Saturday in May. But if you want to experience the thrill and relive all the glory of Churchill downs, you have to make your way out to Derby City Gaming downtown. They're conveniently located across the street from the Kentucky International Convention Center and it's a perfect night out with a group of friends, your significant other. And I even hear that you can win big here. So let's go inside and check it out. I've made my way inside. I'm joined by Evan Lander, the Director of Marketing at Derby City Gaming. And this is a really cool space. I feel like you're kind of immersed into Derby City as soon as you come in. So kind of tell me about the space. Yeah. So this property opened just uh six months ago, December 6th and we are located downtown in the heart of Louisville at the corner of Fourth and Markets. We have a little under 500 historical racing machines, three unique bar concepts, sports betting. We have simulcast, uh, great drinks, great fish. So there's something here for everyone. Yeah, so you can come here and bet, play all the slot machines, of course. But you can also hang out and grab a couple of drinks too. But I think what's most important is it is very Derby inspired. You can see it all throughout. You have the triple crown winners around you. And of course, that gift shop too to get all that merchandise. Yes. So we do have our Kentucky Derby gift shop. We have some very unique Churchill Downs memorabilia in there and a little bit of something for everyone. Yeah. And of course we're gonna work up an appetite and you're gonna get a little thirsty too. And they have just the spot. The first turn Sports bar is the place to refuel after all those big winnings and you can catch every single game here right next to us is actually where you do your sports betting. Yes. We have seven sports betting kiosks where you can bet on all professional and college sports. Even some of the international soccer matches that are currently going on right now and then not only that, it's a great place to come in after a ball game or before any event going downtown to grab a bite to eat. We have magnificent food up here. Burgers, wraps quesadillas, cold draft beer and the best cocktails that you get in downtown Louisville. I know if you want more of like a speakeasy vibe you need to go down. Ok. Betty might be known as a man's sport, but there is something for the women downstairs or in the fascinator wine bar. And this is really cool. You see this beautiful space when you walk in and you have an extensive wine list, don't you? We do, we're actually in the process of even adding more wine into it as we speak. We do have some very unique, unique cocktails. Our F and B team does a great job in putting their own unique spin on some of our cocktails that are available um on the menu. And then also this space is available for rent for private parties, corporate events. We even have baby showers down here. Now, it wouldn't be Derby City without a huge collection of bourbon. We have stepped over to the trophy bar and how many bourbons do you actually have? We have over 140 bottles of bourbon on site. And then again, with us being Derby City game in downtown, we still have to pay homage to the Kentucky Derby. So we have all the replicas of the trophies leading to Kentucky Derby included in our Bourbon showcase. There's so many different photo ops and we're gonna get some more of those coming up too, but you actually have some barrel picks that you offer here too. Yes, we just did our first barrel pick with uh old Forester. We just received a couple of weeks ago. Tastes amazing and it's available to purchase an architecture gift shop for 8999. While supplies last and while you're down here, you have to grab a cocktail and some appetizers and, and what's this cocktail? So, this cocktail is across the board. It's made with buzzards, rose char, one bourbon, lemon juice, orange juice, passion fruit, vanilla, demara and egg white. It tastes fantastic. It almost is too pretty to drink. We can't forget about cigars. I know that's a big hit down here too, but you can't smoke them indoors. So let's head out to the patio. One of my favorite spots here at Derby City Gaming downtown is your patio. There are so many instagrammable moments down here, but this is where people can smoke their luxury cigars. Of course. Yes. So we have over 30 different cigars for sale and then guests can make their way out here, smoke their cigar on our entire cigar smoking patio. And one of the best things about this place is that no membership is required to come out here and smoke cigars. Yeah, that is so great. Technically, we are outside, but this is all covered. It's vented really well. There's even heaters out here if it gets a little chilly, but it is so cool to see all the Derby inspired moments. You got the horseshoe and of course, the nod to Bourbon as well. But really, this isn't just for tourists. This is really for the locals to come out and hang out. Correct. Yeah. So we try to make it easy on the locals as well. You know, we do have, uh, on site parking so guests can pay a low flat feed to park on site, hop on the elevator and art under our gaming floor as well as just try to, you know, this is Churchill Downs Way of reinvest in this downtown community and give locals another entertainment option right in their backyard. Yeah. Ju Derby Day every day here, right. So if people are interested, um do they need to like make reservations at all or can they just come on in? Yeah. So this space is open Wednesday through Saturday, 5 p.m. through 2 a.m. and guests can come up here at their own delight. Um This space is again rentable for private parties as well.
