Novak Djokovic’s parents recently raised concerns over their son continuing his tennis career, insisting that the 23-time Grand Slam winner has nothing left to prove. The 36-year-old missed out on an eighth Wimbledon title earlier this summer, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller.<\/p>\n
Djokovic did get revenge on the Spaniard, though, beating him two sets to one in the final of the Cincinnati Masters on Aug. 20. The Serbian is in good shape heading into the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open, which is his joint-worst having only won the competition three times in his career.<\/p>\n
Mom Dijana and father Srdan believe that their son could retire now with nothing to prove. Srdan, in particular, worries that tennis has Djokovic missed important things off the court and hopes he calls it quicks in the next year. Speaking in a recent documentary named Novak Djokovic \u2013 Untold Stories, Dijana said: \u201cIt\u2019s all up to him. As far as I\u2019m concerned, he can retire right now \u2013 he has won everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
Father, Srdan, added: \u201cAs far as my wishes for him go, he has already fulfilled them all seven\/eight years ago. The rest is this amazing bonus. Tennis is only one segment of his life, not his whole life.<\/p>\n

“I expect him to be recognized for what he will do after his career ends and after he leaves the tennis world, which I hope will happen next year. And for Novak to slowly but surely\u2026 It\u2019s not the end, but in a year-and-a-half let\u2019s say.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wish as a father \u2013 I think for some time that he should have stopped working this extremely difficult job. It\u2019s physically and mentally challenging and very demanding \u2013 with him being fully dedicated for 30 years, and not taking his foot off the gas, there is not much time for other things in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Djokovic seemingly has other ideas, insisting that he’s still motivated to compete and win. And Wimbledon is unlikely to be the last time that Tennis fans see the great Djokovic in a singles final.\u00a0<\/p>\n
