OKTAGON MMA are offering fighters in their welterweight category ‘prize money that has never been seen before’ in Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The MMA promotion are into the semi-final of their \u20ac1million (\u00a3850,000) ‘Gamechanger’ welterweight tournament after starting with 16 fighters.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 4 fighters competing in the semi-final of the tournament this weekend are guaranteed to make at least \u20ac80,000 (\u00a368,687) each.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, those who progress through to the final of the competition are\u00a0guaranteed to make a minimum of \u20ac130,000 (\u00a3111,617) each.<\/p>\n
Pavol Neruda, co-owner of OKTAGON MMA, said: ‘We want to reward our fighters with the pay that they deserve.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘The \u20ac1million euro prize pot for the Gamechanger has given the 16 competing fighters the chance to earn money, as well as make history by winning the tournament.<\/p>\n
‘We want to create heroes with this tournament, but our fighters’ health is the most important thing, and financial rewards are important.’<\/p>\n
Neruda finished by saying:\u00a0‘As we have grown, the prize money has increased, and will continue to do so.’<\/p>\n
OKTAGON MMA heads to Frankfurt for OKTAGON 46 on Saturday 16th September, headlined by the women’s strawweight title fight, as Jacinda Austin takes on Katharina Dalisda.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While the semi-finals will see former OKTAGON MMA Welterweight Champion, David Kozma vs Bojan Velickovic, as well as Louis Glismann vs Andreas Michailidis.<\/p>\n
OKTAGON MMA have also launched a new reality show in the UK and Ireland, which will be shown on Channel 4, with the first episode airing on Tuesday 12th September.<\/p>\n
The reality TV show will see athletes compete in ‘challenges’ set beyond the sports world they are used to. Each ‘challenge’ is designed to take the fighters outside their comfort zones so fans can see the true personalities and characters behind the steely competitors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The two fighters remaining will make their OKTAGON MMA debuts at OKTAGON 48, at the AO Arena in Manchester, and fight it out for a 5-figure contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Irish prospects will be led by Irish MMA legend, Paddy Holohan, with Next Gen fighter and OKTAGON lightweight contender, Shem Rock as the co-coach.<\/p>\n
England will be led by MMA pioneer and UFC veteran, Brad Pickett, co-coached by fellow lightweight prospect, Akonne Wanliss.<\/p>\n
Neruda said: ‘England vs Ireland is the age old rivalry. This whole concept is about bragging rights, and the opportunity we are giving to these young fighters is something we are really proud of.<\/p>\n
‘We are making our UK debut in November in Manchester, and the plan is to bring OKTAGON MMA to Ireland very soon as well. We wanted to give the fans of these great nations the chance to get behind their own fighters and make these guys into the stars that we believe they can be.’<\/p>\n
