Gylfi Sigurdsson ‘could make his debut for Danish side Lyngby Boldklub on Friday’ according to a report.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old, who previously played for Tottenham, Swansea and Everton, has not not played competitively in over two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His last competitive appearance came in Everton’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City in May 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former Iceland international, who has been capped 78 times for his country scoring 25 goals in that time, was released by the Toffees in the summer of 2022, ending a five-year spell at the club after he became the club’s record signing in 2017\u00a0at \u00a345million.<\/p>\n
Sigurdsson had, since then been without a club, but at the start of September, Mail Sport reported\u00a0that he had signed with the Danish first division side and could now be set to make his return to the football pitch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That’s according to Lyngby’s coach Freyr Alexandersson, who, per Danish outlet\u00a0TV2, has said that the midfielder could play in their home game against Vejle Boldklub later this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘We are a little ahead of our plan,’ the coach said\u00a0following their 1-0 victory against Hvidovre on Sunday.<\/p>\n
‘He [Sigurdsson] could easily be in the game for the game on Friday. We really hope that he can be in the squad there, but if not then at least the following week.’<\/p>\n
Speaking on Sigurdsson’s fitness Alexandersson added: ‘It looks really good. He has trained fully with the team for the last four practices and is looking sharper and sharper.<\/p>\n
‘Now we are in the period when we have to make sure that he doesn’t get injured, because he has been driving himself to death for the past three weeks.<\/p>\n

‘It has been a clean preseason for him, so now we just have to find the right rhythm, but he will be on the field soon.’<\/p>\n

And his manager lauded his work ethic, stating: ‘He works like a horse. He runs and runs and never takes breaks in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘His defensive work effort and his pressing game are some of the points where I think he is a little underrated. He is so incredibly good at it.’<\/p>\n
