A group of Manchester United fans orchestrated a banner reading ‘Glazers Out’ to fly over the Raymond James Stadium in Florida in the latest protest against the club’s ownership. The banner was unveiled ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Monday Night Football game, with the franchise also being owned by the Glazer brothers Joel and Avram.

The game in question saw Tampa face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, with the away team coming away victorious in a 25-11 win. But for United fans it was the banner displayed before the game that grabbed the attention.

The banner was organized by local Pittsburgh & Tampa Manchester United supporters groups, according to @UnitedWorldFans, which was greeted with an overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans.

“Fantastic work! Keep it up lads,” one fan tweeted after seeing the video of the plane circulating social media. Others joined in echoing the sentiment: “Hope this works out to kicked out the Greedy Glazers,” with another adding: “Respect to our American Reds!”

The display was the latest attempt to get the Glazers to sell United after the club was put up for sale late last year. The club has generated plenty of interest with Qatar businessman Sheikh Jassim and UK billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe seemingly leading the race.

However fans are yet to receive any update on the sale with the Glazer family continuing to drag their heels on the matter. The delay has led to frequent protests both at Old Trafford and now State-side.

The latest update, according to Bloomberg, reveals that Ratcliffe is now the leading candidate after adjusting his initial offer, which could have seen the Glazers still involved in the club.

The deal is a stark contract to Sheikh Jassim’s 100 per-cent takeover which is reported to have met the Glazers’ £5billion ($6bn) asking price earlier in the year.

Despite the off-field struggles, United are enduring a difficult time on the pitch having lost three of their first six matches. The club is next in action when they host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup tonight.
