Roy Keane believes Chelsea have created a disjointed dressing room by signing too many players.

Chelsea news, exclusives and analysis

Chelsea’s spend on new arrivals topped £1 billion since Todd Boehly’s consortium purchased the club from Roman Abramovich last year.

But despite the major outlay on new signings, Chelsea have struggled to click on the pitch and the team have won just one Premier League game under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

And Keane feels Chelsea’s hierarchy needed to be smarter with their recruitment srategy.

Asked if the chaos within Chelsea’s hierarchy has contributed to the team’s performances, Keane said on The Overlap: ‘That doesn’t help.

‘Without a doubt, without making excuses, that can affect the dressing room, the energy of your club, leadership. But also, with the players, when that whistle goes [you forget it].

‘The only thing I’d say is from the dressing room is when you bring that amount of players together, I’ve never experienced it and it’s strange I’m actually talking about it, I can only imagine, it’s like when we were at the club, sometimes three or four new players would come in and you could just see that it’ll take them time to adapt, from a football point of view, off the field, their families, schools.

‘I can only imagine going to training every day, I’d feel sorry for the kitman. It must be chaos.

‘I’d love to go into a job and go, ‘can I have a 10-year project?’.

‘Whatever we say about Chelsea’s project, if he [Pochettino] keeps losing football matches he will be under pressure.

‘Maybe not this year [Pochettino will be sacked] but there will be pressure.’
