A mystery Manchester United player has leaked that the squad are ‘not having’ manager Erik ten Hag and are ‘disgusted’ by his treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

United have endured a torrid start to their season and the unrest has been punctuated by a fallout between Ten Hag and Sancho, with both publicly critical of one another.

On talkSPORT, Alan Brazil told co-host Ally McCoist that he has heard the players ‘are not having the manager’.

He said: ‘Do you know what Ally – and I know you’ve got to be careful what you report on – this is only what I heard from a United player who told someone we know very well.

‘He said, the players are not having the manager, they’re not having him, definitely not.

Erik ten Hag has fallen out with Jadon Sancho and the squad are allegedly ‘not having him’

Alan Brazil said he had heard a Manchester United player had spoken to a source about how the squad were ‘disgusted’ by the manager’s treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sancho

‘By all accounts they’re disgusted at the way he treated Cristiano and they say Sancho is a great guy who works his socks off, so I don’t know who to believe to be honest.’

McCoist replies: ‘I tell you one thing, you can guarantee, it’s still not right there is it?’

‘No, he said the players aren’t having him, they’re not having him’, Brazil added.

United were spared falling into full crisis mode by Scott McTominay’s late heroics before the international break, as his brace rescued a victory against Brentford at Old Trafford.

The Sancho issue is one of a number of problems the Dutchman has at the moment.

The 23-year-old previously responded to his manager’s comments: ‘Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue.

‘I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t get into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!’

Ten Hag, when asked on his decision to omit Sancho, had said: ‘On his performance on training we didn’t select him. You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. You can make choices in the front line, so in this game he wasn’t selected.’

Ronaldo left United under a cloud after falling out of favour under Ten Hag

Ten Hag wants an apology from the former Borussia Dortmund man and will try to get rid of him in the January transfer window if one is not forthcoming.

He has been banished from the first-team squad since effectively calling Ten Hag a liar after he was dropped from last month’s defeat at Arsenal due to a poor attitude in training.

In addition to alleged lack of effort on the training ground and persistent lateness Mail Sport has learned that Ten Hag has highlighted Sancho’s influence amongst team-mates as a cause for concern, although this is strongly denied by sources close to the player.

Sancho feels as though he is a scapegoat and at the moment seems unwilling to back down.

United would also be willing to let him leave on loan and subsidise another club paying the player’s £300-a-week wages.

Ronaldo departed United acrimoniously following a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo’s position at the club became untenable after he criticised the club, the Glazers, manager Erik ten Hag and his team-mates in the interview.

After his relationship with Ten Hag deteriorated and he left under a cloud, Ronaldo became the first major star to join the Saudi league, the first domino to fall in what would become a mass exodus of talent to the middle east.
