as talks continue between the Colombian Government and his captors, the National Liberation Army (ELN).<\/p>\n<p>The Government revealed on Thursday that the ELN had been\u00a0<span>responsible for the kidnapping of both Diaz&#8217;s parents last weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Colombian newspaper El Tiempo reported authorities have been promised by the ELN that Diaz&#8217;s father will be released within the next few hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Members of the ELN group have reportedly claimed to the Colombian magazine\u00a0Semana that they were unaware members of the organisation had kidnapped Diaz&#8217;s parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The group are claimed to have provide assurances they will ask for Luis Manuel Diaz to be released.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/16\/77329415-0-image-a-9_1698943514351.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Colombian Government have provided a major update in their search for Luis Diaz&#8217;s father<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/17\/77330547-12703493-image-a-10_1698944562958.jpg\" height=\"709\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Colombian Government say\u00a0Luis Manuel Diaz was kidnapped by a terrorist group<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/17\/77175897-12703493-Diaz_s_father_Luis_Manuel_above_and_mother_Cilenis_Marulanda_wer-a-11_1698944686302.jpg\" height=\"796\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Diaz&#8217;s father Luis Manuel (above) and mother Cilenis Marulanda were kidnapped in Colombia last week and the 26-year-old footballer has since remained in England for &#8216;security reasons&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz&#8217;s mother Cilenis Marulanda was released a few hours after the kidnapping on October 28, but his father has remained missing five days later.<\/p>\n<p>Otty Patino, who is representing the Government in the talks, confirmed they had been informed the ELN were responsible for the kidnapping.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Patino called for the release of Diaz&#8217;s father.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Today we have officially learned that the kidnapping carried out on October 28, in Barrancas, department of La Guajira, of which Luis Manuel D\u00edaz and Cilenis Marulanda, father and mother of the soccer player Luis Fernando, were victims D\u00edaz Marulanda, was perpetrated by a unit belonging to the ELN,&#8217;
