Tottenham are hoping to reunite James Maddison with former Leicester City team-mate Wilfred Ndidi in January. The north Londoners are keen on acquiring Ndidi’s services as he nears the end of his contract at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester have enjoyed an excellent start to their 2023/2024 campaign following relegation from the Premier League last season. The Foxes have won 13 of their 15 Championship matches so far and currently sit four points clear at the top of the table.

Defensive midfielder Ndidi, who has been at the club since 2016, has played a pivotal role in Leicester’s early successes and has caught the eye of many top European clubs. According to TeamTalk, Leicester have been “working hard” to extend his stay but are yet to reach an agreement.

The report goes on to claim that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have enquired about the midfielder, while Lyon, Monaco, Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brentford are also keeping a close eye on his contractual situation.

As Ndidi’s contract is set to expire in June he is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January. Tottenham will be hoping they can position themselves ahead of the rest of the pack in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.

Several reports claimed Ndidi sought a move away from Leicester over the summer but the Nigerian international has since come out and denied this. During an appearance on BBC Radio Leicester’s When You’re Smiling Podcast back in September, Ndidi explained how a chat with new manager Enzo Maresca filled him with confidence ahead of this season.
