Police are reportedly preparing for the release of Liverpool star Luis Diaz’s father.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Diaz’s father has been held for over a week by a guerrilla group, the national Liberation Army (ELN), in his homeland.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His mother Cilenis Marulanda was freed on the same night his parents were snatched off the streets though his father Luis Manuel Diaz has yet to be released.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, Colombian publication Semana have now reported that police are preparing for his release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It’s said that the operation to withdraw the troops of the security forces from the border area with Venezuela has begun, in order to facilitate his release.<\/p>\n

The ELN are alleged to have claimed that security problems in La Guajira is the reason for the delay of his release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Semana report that more than 300 men will be moved to strategic points with the purpose of speeding up his release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Special forces have been on the lookout for Diaz’s father since the kidnapping on October 28.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Liverpool winger, who scored a late equaliser on his return to action at Luton, posted on social media Sunday night, saying: \u2018This is not Luis Diaz the player speaking. Today I am the son of Luis Manuel Diaz. My dad hard-working family man.<\/p>\n
‘I ask the ELN for the prompt release of my father, and I ask international organisations to work together for his freedom.<\/p>\n
‘Every second, every minute, our anguish grows. My mother, my brothers and I are desperate, distressed and without words to describe what we are feeling. This suffering will only end when we have him back home.<\/p>\n

Second-half substitute Diaz headed home a Harvey Elliott cross in time added on on Sunday<\/p>\n
‘I beg you to release him immediately, respecting his integrity and ending this painful wait as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
‘In the name of love and compassion, we ask that you reconsider your actions and allow us to recover him.<\/p>\n
‘I thank Colombians and the international community for the support received, thank you for so many demonstrations of affection and solidarity in this difficult time that many families in my country find themselves living.’<\/p>\n
