Erik ten Hag's position at Man Utd is being questioned by some

Copenhagen star Mohamed Elyounoussi has accused Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes of “always complaining and whining” to referees. The former Southampton forward explained that in one fiery moment during Wednesday’s Champions League clash, he intervened to prevent Fernandes from moaning to the officials.

Elyounoussi was seen confronting Fernandes during Copenhagen’s stunning 4-3 victory over United in Denmark. The pair seemed to exchange heated words towards the end of the game, with the Danish side completing a remarkable comeback from 3-2 down in the final 10 minutes.

The Norway international has since explained that he told the United star “it’s done” after growing frustrated at his antics. Fernandes cut a typically frustrated figure as United collapsed towards another woeful European defeat, leaving them on the brink of an early Champions League exit.

“I think everyone who has seen United and who has seen him knows that he is a player who is always with the referees complaining and whining,” Elyounoussi explained afterwards.

“I tried to get him away from the referee. I said, ‘It’s done’. It was nothing more than that. I don’t like players who go forward and try to influence the referees.”

Fernandes was often seen complaining to Lithuanian referee Donatas Rumsas, who made a couple of debatable decisions during the game. Marcus Rashford was controversially sent off during the first half, while penalties awarded to both sides were contentious.

The Portugal star had given United a 3-2 lead after Copenhagen brought the score level to 2-2. The Superliga side then scored two goals in the final 10 minutes, capped by a stunning winner by 17-year-old ace Roony Bardghji.

United are bottom of Champions League Group A and, to have any control over their fate, must beat Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in their remaining two matches. They sit on three points while Copenhagen and Galatasaray are on four. Bayern have steamed ahead with an unblemished record.
