Jurgen Klopp was vexed when Toulouse fans drowned out his press conference with boisterous celebrations after he was made to hold it in a tent.

The Liverpool manager was giving his thoughts on Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat in the Europa League when fans began banging on the tent and chanting.

Klopp and journalists had to fight through the crowd to access the tent across the road from the stadium.

No supporters were inside but reporters couldn’t hear Klopp over the raucous din.

Klopp stopped part-way through the press conference and said: ‘Who had the idea to do the press conference here? That will be a really interesting question. Wow.’

Diogo Jota’s 89th-minute goal gave the Reds a ray of hope and they thought they had sealed a point with Quansah’s last-minute strike, but it was cruelly overturned.

Klopp did not agree with the decision to award handball – it was well before the goal and he questioned whether it had even touched his midfielder’s arm.

He said: ‘I only saw the video back now and for me it’s not a handball, but how can I decide that? The ball goes to the chest and then I don’t see a contact with the arm, to be honest.

‘Maybe they had a different picture than I had. It was pretty long ago before we scored the goal and I thought, ‘Where is the free-kick?’ I didn’t see it properly but I heard there could have been a penalty for us in another situation, I don’t know.
