England will be watched on by Mick Jagger during their Cricket World Cup game against Pakistan on Saturday in Kolkata.<\/p>\n
The Rolling Stones frontman arrived in the Indian city on Thursday and met a group of England players, including captain Jos Buttler, in their hotel restaurant on the eve of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mail Sport <\/span>understands that Jagger is not in Kolkata as a guest of the England team but the 80-year-old has always been a keen sports fan, recently attending the El Clasico in Barcelona, while he\u00a0was also spotted at The Oval during\u00a0the Ashes earlier this year along with the World Test Championship final in June.<\/p>\n Jagger\u2019s connection with cricket has always been strong.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger met up with some of England’s cricket stars in Kolkata<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jagger was also in attendance at the World Test Championship final at the Oval in the summer<\/p>\n Back in 1997, he was frustrated that an ODI tournament featuring England in Sharjah was not live on TV in the UK so he got in touch with the company producing the telecasts for the matches and asked if he could help.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jagger – who was on the Rolling Stones’ Bridges to Babylon world tour at the time and wanted to be able to watch the games in his trailer –\u00a0then put up the money to stream the games on Cricinfo after founding his own own internet company, Jagged Internetworks.<\/p>\n In the aforementioned photo, alongside England captain Butler, Jagger was joined by Sam Curran, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook.<\/p>\n Jagger is also regularly seen in the hospitality areas during Test matches at Lord’s, while he is reported to own one of the flats that overlooks the iconic ground in St John’s Wood.\u00a0<\/p>\n Last month, he was seen alongside his Rolling Stones bandmates at El Clasico after\u00a0the rock band’s iconic logo was printed on Barcelona’s shirts for their showdown with Real Madrid.<\/p>\n The club announced in September that the the iconic tongue and lips logo of the band would replace the logo of usual sponsor\u00a0Spotify\u00a0on their shirts for the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n During the game – which Barcelona lost 2-1 thanks to two goals from Jude Bellingham – he was seen taking in the atmosphere alongside Ronnie Wood and Bill Wyman, while they were gesturing and reacting with anguish throughout.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Rolling Stones agreed a deal that would see their logo on Barcelona’s kit for El Clasico<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jagger (with Bill Wyman (L) and Ronnie Wood (R)) was seen gesturing during the game<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The agreement surrounding the shirt deal was to do with promoting their new album<\/p>\n The agreement surrounding the shirt sponsorship was all to do with promoting the Rolling Stones’ new album \u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019, which was released on October 20. The album was the Rolling Stones first release of new material in 18 years.<\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019re huge football fans and honoured that Spotify have brought our Tongue & Lips logo to grace the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the release of the Stones\u2019 new \u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019 album,\u2019 the Rolling Stones said at the time.<\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.\u2019<\/p>\n The band\u2019s logo also featured on the women\u2019s team\u2019s kit for their match against Sevilla on November 5 at Estadi Johan Cruyff.<\/p>\n
