Man Utd are making huge changes ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming into the club | Football Digest

Ryan Reynolds has been pulled into an online war of words with the chairman of Accrington Stanley who was left fuming after Wrexham released a statement publicly criticising their opponent’s ticket price policy hours before kick-off on Saturday. The Red Dragons visited the Wham Stadium at the weekend for an EFL League Two encounter against John Coleman’s side, which Stanley went on to win 2-0.

The hosts had decided to increase ticket prices for the well-attended fixture by £5 per ticket to cover the costs of high policing and extra stewarding on the day. In response, Wrexham released a statement indicating that they were not happy with the decision and offered a counter-move to their fans in response.

It read: “In response to Accrington Stanley’s decision to increase the matchday price by £5 from that previously charged at Wham Stadium for league games this season, we have decided to reduce the price of matchday tickets by £5 for the return game at the STōK Cae Ras on 02/03/2023.”

The statement prompted a furious response from Accrington’s long-time chairman Andy Holt, who took to social media to air his thoughts in a succession of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

Holt started by writing: “A better question is why would you put this out a few hours before kick off?”

He then followed his reply up by saying: “When costs are already high @Wrexham_AFC the last thing football needs is stupid mistimed statements. It’s surprising how stupid given a former CEO of @EFL is employed by you.”

After Accrington won the match, a still-riled Holt returned to X to rub some salt into the wounds.

He posted: “Accrington 2 Hollywood nil. I think @VancityReynolds should cut prices by a tenner @Wrexham_AFC. Safe journey home folks. Get that on @netflix Ryan lad.”

On Sunday morning Holt was back online to make another point about Wrexham. This time he wrote: “And @Wrexham_AFC streamed the match internationally, a match that WE paid for and hosted, without us receiving a single $cent. Under rules set by a previous employee of @EFL who now works for Wrexham. So don’t start me off.”
