Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have a responsibility to work together to deliver exceptional fights, Mail Sport’s Charlotte Daly has told The Hook podcast, after the promoters put their rivalry aside to deliver the Day of Reckoning card.

Warren and Hearn had not met in person despite their long and often bitter rivalry, prior to the pair confirming the line-up for a blockbuster card in Saudi Arabia on December 23.

The card includes Anthony Joshua’s fight against Otto Wallin, while Deontay Wilder will face Joseph Parker in another heavyweight showdown.

Daly said it was ‘history in the making’ after Hearn and Warren appeared together for the first time, adding that the pair being on the same page should bode well for boxing fans moving forwards.

Signs of collaboration come after fight fans have been frustrated as several top showdowns collapsing in recent years.

Eddie Hearn and rival Frank Warren met for the first time to finalise the Day of Reckoning card

Anthony Joshua, promoted by Hearn, features on the card in Saudi Arabia on December 23

The growth of influencer boxing, Daly believes, should be a factor for future collaboration between the two promoters.

‘They have a responsibility to start making these fights happen, we have been frustrated before that they haven’t happened,’ Daly told the Hook.

‘I think with influencer boxing creeping in, there is more pressure on the likes of Eddie and Frank to put on these exceptional fights to show the gap between the levels.

‘The only way we are going to get that is if we have them putting on these fights.

‘It is clear that Saudi Arabia has the money and funds to put on these fights, but they can quickly take it away as they put it in.

‘You need everyone to be on the same page to make these mega bouts. If you can’t get promoters to sit down and agree things, they are not going to happen.’

Warren ultimately spearheaded the launch of the Day of Reckoning card last week with his Queensberry company hosting a press conference in Wembley Arena.

Charlotte Daly believes the growth of influencer boxing could lead to more collaboration

A possible showdown between Joshua and Deontay Wilder could follow in the New Year

The expectation is that Joshua and Wilder will meet in the New Year in Riyadh on the condition they both win their respective fights on December 23.

A showdown between Wilder and Joshua has long been on the cards but a fight is yet to materialise.

Wilder exclusively told Mail Sport that Joshua had rejected his mammoth $50million (£40m) offer to face him, and that it was Joshua’s management that prevented a blockbuster showdown from happening.

An agreement on the card was reached after Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s fight was pushed back from December 23 to February 17.
