Micah Richards and the rest of the CBS crew quickly got into the American spirit at their Destination Miami show by playing football with Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.

Richards, Thierry Henry, Clint Dempsey, Jamie Carragher and host Kate Abdo are in Florida for this week’s Champions League broadcasts – following on from their visit to New York City last season.

Within minutes of going on air, Hill joined the panel for a special guest appearance and Richards and Dempsey were not going to let the opportunity pass them by.

Firstly, Richards wanted to test his throwing arm so left the stage to put some distance between himself and Hill – the former Kansas City Chief who won the Super Bowl in 2020.

Giving himself around 15 to 20 yards, Richards threw an inch perfect pass over the desk and straight into Hill’s hands.

The Dolphins wide receiver celebrated wildly with the former Manchester City defender

Clint Dempsey and Richards did 1v1s and the American sucked his opponent in with a dummy

Dempsey was all alone as Hill turned quarterback and threw a perfect pass over the top

It was then Richards’ attempt on offense and there looked to be some holding by Dempsey

Richards looked as though he had also caught Hill’s pass before the ball popped out late on

Richards then climbed back onto the stage and celebrated, performing a hilarious dance with a jubilant Hill on the other side of the desk.

They took it upon themselves to leave the stage and battle it out in a 1v1 with Hill – so he didn’t risk an injury as the Dolphins close in on a playoff spot – acting as the quarterback.

Dempsey took the first offensive snap with Richards lining up against him and the former Tottenham and Fulham forward made it look easy.

He went to sprint downfield, checked back for a short pass and then accelerated away from Richards who had bought the fake.

Hill, channeling his inner Tua Tagovailoa, threw a perfect looping pass over the head of Richards and straight into the arms of his fellow American.

Then it was Richards’ turn to play offense and his attempt at a touchdown wasn’t so smooth.

The former Manchester City and England defender dropped his shoulder and ran on the outside of Dempsey, who wasn’t fooled and tracked Richards all the way.

There was some questionable pass interference early on in the play and as Richards caught the ball and brought it down, Dempsey managed to swat it away.

Hill claimed that this Dolphins team is better than the Chiefs squad he won a Super Bowl with

Hill is the best wide receiver in the NFL this season and has 1,324 yards receiving so far

Richards protested and demanded a flag but it never arrived and Dempsey wheeled away in celebration at his superiority.

Carragher hadn’t yet arrived in Miami when they did this segment, otherwise the ultra competitive former Liverpool star would have undoubtedly took part.

During his appearance on the show, Hill boldly claimed that his current Dolphins team is better than the Chiefs group that he won a Super Bowl with.

Asked by Henry whether or not he thinks the Dolphins can go to the Super Bowl, Hill replied: ‘Of course. We’ve got the perfect team to do it.

‘The way our head coach prepares us each and every week is next level. He keeps each and every one of his guys in tune with the game plan and how we keep attention to detail.

‘It’s a beautiful thing to see. The way we practice, the way we play for one another is something I’ve never seen before in a team. I won a Super Bowl and I feel like this is a better team than when I was back on Kansas City.

‘All we’ve got to do is come out, practice, prepare and make sure we show up on game day. It can look good on paper but we’ve obviously got to get it done on Sundays.’
