Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana took aim at the atmosphere at Anfield after his side’s goalless draw with Liverpool, insisting he felt ‘nothing’.

Erik ten Hag’s visitors frustrated their opponents and prevented them from moving to the top of the Premier League after delivering a resolute defensive display.

The scrappy nature of the showdown saw much of the crowd of 57,000, the highest league attendance at the famous old ground since 1949, voice their frustration.

But even with the addition of the newly-refurbished Anfield Road stand, an area housing 7,000 supporters, Onana has revealed he was largely unfazed by the noise.

Asked by MUTV if he had noticed the atmosphere, the stopper said: ‘Nothing.

‘At Manchester United you’re going to get that, I have to be ready for everything. I’m used to be playing big games with high intensity.

‘Like I said, it was nice to play here today. We played a good opponent but we showed we have good players. Being Manchester United you must try to win.’

United legend Gary Neville, speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage, also aimed a dig at the atmosphere, describing it as the worst he had experienced during the derby.

‘The atmosphere was the worst I’ve seen at Anfield ever for a Liverpool-Manchester United game,’ Neville said. ‘I’ve always been complimentary of Liverpool fans but it’s the quietest crowd I’ve seen in this game.

‘I think there was maybe a little bit of overconfidence before the game, with people wearing Christmas jumpers with 7-0 on them and stuff like that!’
